There were rumors about Ismael Lazaar failing a drug test which was the reason his fight against Luis Tavares didn’t go through. Now it seems those rumors are true and the evidence is pouring in liters (or gallons).

It seems likes Ismael Lazaar used not allowed drugs for his fight against Rico Verhoeven at GLORY 41 and has been suspended for four years by Institute Sports Jurisdiction. He is allowed to fight again on 21 July 2021 and also has a fine of 525 euro which he has to pay to Glory.

Glory’s declaration of violation
On 20 May 2017, a doping test was carried out at Ismael Lazaar during the GLORY 41 event. The analysis report from the doping control laboratory states that when analyzing a part of the urine sample from Ismael Lazaar the substances 3’hydroxystanozolol glucuronide (related to stanozolol), epioxandrolone (related to oxandrolone) and 18-noroxandrolone have been found.
The additional analysis report also states that when analyzing a part of the urine sample of Ismael Lazaar there has also been found endogenous steroid of exogenous origin (testosterone) and/or precursors thereof, or metabolites or markers thereof and steroids of exogenous origin (at least one of the Adiols -5aAdiol and / or 5βAdiol).

These substances appear on the 2017 Doping List belonging to the National Doping Regulations of the Institute Sports Jurisdiction. The presence of this constitutes a violation of article 3 of the Doping Regulations.

Excluded of competitions
Glory Sports has asked the Sports Jurisprudence Institute to exclude Ismael Lazaar from participation in competitions for a certain period and has requested that Ismael Lazaar be fully ordered to pay the costs of this procedure.

Ismael Lazaar has, as stated earlier, not made a statement of defence on this.

The Doping Authority concluded that:

  • There is a violation of article 3 Doping Regulations.
  • Ismael Lazaar has not shown that there was no intention on his part.
  • Ismael Lazaar has not shown that he is eligible for a penalty reduction on the basis of article 44 or 45 Doping regulations.
