There were rumors about Ismael Lazaar failing a drug test which was the reason his fight against Luis Tavares didn’t go through. Now it seems those rumors are true and the evidence is pouring in liters (or gallons).
It seems likes Ismael Lazaar used not allowed drugs for his fight against Rico Verhoeven at GLORY 41 and has been suspended for four years by Institute Sports Jurisdiction. He is allowed to fight again on 21 July 2021 and also has a fine of 525 euro which he has to pay to Glory.
Ismael Lazaar participated in the GLORY 41 event on 20 May 2017 in Den Bosch. He was then appointed by the doping control official of the Doping Authority to undergo a doping test.
On July 24, 2017 Glory has imposed a disciplinary measure in accordance with article 26 paragraph 3 of the Doping regulations that were effective immediately.
On August 14, 2017 Glory has signed a declaration of a violation of the Doping regulations. Glory Sports has dated its declaration form with the date 1 October 2017.
On October 16, 2017 the declaration form and documents were sent to Ismael Lazaar and he has been informed about the possibility to submit a statement of defence. On the same date, a copy of this correspondence was sent to Glory and the Doping Authority.
Ismael Lazaar had not send a statement of defence in return.
On November 22, 2017, Glory Sports has informed ISR by e-mail that it has no further additions.
On November 23, 2017, the reaction of Glory to Ismael Lazaar and the Doping Authority was sent.
On 8 December 2017, the Doping Authority took a conclusion, dated 6 December 2017.
On 12 December 2017, this conclusion was send to Ismael Lazaar and Glory.
Glory’s declaration of violation
On 20 May 2017, a doping test was carried out at Ismael Lazaar during the GLORY 41 event. The analysis report from the doping control laboratory states that when analyzing a part of the urine sample from Ismael Lazaar the substances 3’hydroxystanozolol glucuronide (related to stanozolol), epioxandrolone (related to oxandrolone) and 18-noroxandrolone have been found.
The additional analysis report also states that when analyzing a part of the urine sample of Ismael Lazaar there has also been found endogenous steroid of exogenous origin (testosterone) and/or precursors thereof, or metabolites or markers thereof and steroids of exogenous origin (at least one of the Adiols -5aAdiol and / or 5βAdiol).
These substances appear on the 2017 Doping List belonging to the National Doping Regulations of the Institute Sports Jurisdiction. The presence of this constitutes a violation of article 3 of the Doping Regulations.
Excluded of competitions
Glory Sports has asked the Sports Jurisprudence Institute to exclude Ismael Lazaar from participation in competitions for a certain period and has requested that Ismael Lazaar be fully ordered to pay the costs of this procedure.
Ismael Lazaar has, as stated earlier, not made a statement of defence on this.
The Doping Authority concluded that:
- There is a violation of article 3 Doping Regulations.
- Ismael Lazaar has not shown that there was no intention on his part.
- Ismael Lazaar has not shown that he is eligible for a penalty reduction on the basis of article 44 or 45 Doping regulations.
- Ismael Lazaar is not eligible for sanction reduction on other grounds.
- Ismael Lazaar has to suffer a period of exclusion of four years.
Glory Sports has stated that it has no additions to the declaration and to join the
ruling by the Disciplinary Commission.
